love WITH accountability® is part of a decades-long body of survivor-centered work developed by Aishah Shahidah Simmons, whose exploration of sexual violence, accountability, and collective response began in 1994 and includes the groundbreaking film NO! The Rape Documentary.

It is a survivor-centered framework for community accountability, exploring how we respond to harm, particularly sexual violence, without relying on policing, punishment, or prisons.

On June 1, 2020, Love WITH Accountability: Digging Up the Roots of Child Sexual Abuse (2019) was named co-winner of the Lambda Literary Award for Best LGBTQ Anthology.

This recognition affirms work that has long named what many have refused to acknowledge.

This work is both timely and tragically timeless, as harm continues to be revealed across communities, institutions, and among those entrusted with care, leadership, and influence.

Centering diasporic Black queer, trans, and straight survivors of child sexual abuse, this body of work brings together voices that tell complex truths and imagine how we can end the pandemic of childhood sexual abuse without relying on policing and prisons.
